Net Casino Sucker Bets — Part 2

  • Progressive side bets: Games like Caribbean Stud Poker commonly contain one of these. You usually lay a bet (a dollar is the normal amt.) to attempt to win a bonus jackpot that could be upwards of twenty-five thousand dollars. Although huge jackpots like these are very appealing, they are also particularly hard to succeed. You would have to hit a Royal Flush in order to hit this bet. Also, think about this- you play twenty hands and lay the side wager every time. That is twenty dollars you could have used towards the actual game wager in place of a sucker bet. Just think about what you could have been able to win at a bet with more favorable odds using that $20.
  • Individual number bets in Roulette: This is particularly true for American Roulette. Why? American Roulette has two zeroes on the wheel, unlike European Roulette, which has just one. This takes the complete house edge from twopercent with one zero wheel to a huge 5.26% in American. The single number bet has just a one in 38 chance of winning, which are very long odds indeed. Bet on even-odd or black-red bets alternately which have a much lower casino advantage.
  • Keno: Any variation of Keno, and regardless of how you wager on it, the house advantage can be a huge 25%. No, that wasn’t a typo. Because of the huge amount of numbers you must pick, it is not recommended to bet on Keno to often. A few times for enjoyment, perhaps. But do not spend all your money on it or you’ll immediately discover yourself beaten.
